I am thinking of going to college to get a software engineering degree.
My question is ... is software engineering a stable career?
Would I be able to get a resonable job and get fairly decent employment and have stable career prospects that I can count on ... just like doctors or lawyers or accountants?
Yes, the Software Enginnering profession is a stable career or profession.
Software Engineers are in-demand across the USA and the demand is so high that special VISAS are being created just for software developers.
The good news is that even in the current recession there is still a high demand for software engineers ... the reason being that there are more software engineering jobs than there are software enginners to fill those positions.
Just take a minute and verify my assertion ... go to the CAREERBUILDER.COM job Site and type in the word "programmer", my search results returned more than 4,000 job listings matching the keyword "programmer"
It will take you less than a minute to run a search and tverify the number of computer programmer jobs out there.
I don't know of a lot of other professional careers that can fetch the types of numbers of job listings you will see right now for software engineering jobs
