I've been out of computer programming for several years and my computeer programming skills are no longer current. (I used to be an applications programmer.)
What does everyone think would be the best computer programming skill sets to develop in order to re-enter programming as quickly as possible?
What would be the best and most cost-effective way to go about developing those computer programmin g skills?
Thanks to anyone who can help me.
The best programming skill sets for re-entering the computer programming job market includes C# programming skills, .NET Framework programming skills, SQL (Relational Database) skills, ASP.NET Web Development skills.
C# Programming skill sets are in high-demand because Microsoft has successfully marketed C# as a premier computer programming language over the last ten yeays and because C# is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) language that is quite easy to learn and because Microsoft has made C# or .NET development the premier programming language or platform for working on other software applications like databases (SQL Server), PocketPC / Mobile Application Development, Windows Desktop Development or Office Productivity tool development, so learning this one language can do wonders for your career.
In addition, ASP.NET is the Web Development Platform that goes along with C#. Employers are not looking for just SQL or ASP.NET or C# programming skills ... but for a combination of all these programming skill sets.
The cheapest way to learn computer programming is by teaching yourself computer ;programming with the aid of the book mentioned on this site: How to Become a Programmer
